Published in 1968 г.
Translation:
"Sacred ground of the city of Krasnodon
To the Komsomol members of the Tjuler district
Luhansk Regional Committee of the LKSM of Ukraine, September 1968."
Krasnodon is a town in the Lehansk region (eastern Ukraine).
Komsomol was the communist youth organization in the Soviet Union.
LKSM stands for "Leninist Communist Youth League of Ukraine".
The object thus contains a symbolic “holy earth” from Krasnodon, donated in 1968 to Komsomol members in another district.
Steel box, chrome-plated with an image of a memorial.
Inside the coffin is Holy Earth, soil from which many Komsomol members died.
The Young Guard was an underground anti-fascist Komsomol organization in the German-occupied Soviet city of Krasnodon (Ukrainian SSR, now Luhansk Oblast in Ukraine). They were active during World War II, until January 1943. They carried out several acts of sabotage and protest before being destroyed by German forces. Most of the Young Guard's members, approximately 80, were tortured by the Germans and Nazis and subsequently executed.
The eternal flame is made of bronze with acrylic, the other 4 ornaments are made of ebonite.
An image of a grieving mother can be seen on the memorial stone.
Everything is screwed together with chrome-plated screws, including the ornaments on the inside.
A photo of a soldier or ornament can be placed on the rectangular piece, but it's not appropriate. See the example photo.
The chrome has some spots and is a bit worn here and there.
Inside was a plastic bag with soil tied with a pink bow but after almost 6 decades the bag has leaked and soil is now also loose in the ornament but the lid closes everything well.
