The painting hung in the Szolnok City Hall, Hungary, until the collapse of the Soviet Union, after which it disappeared into the basement. It has only recently resurfaced.
The original is by Andrei Ivanovich Plotnov (1916-1997).
This copy was commissioned by the municipality in 1977 for the city hall.
The Day of the Great Socialist October Revolution was a war between the Red Army, the Bolsheviks, and the White Army of the Russian Empire. The Red Army won, bringing Lenin's Bolsheviks to power in Russia.
The Aurora fired the starting shot for the revolution and the creation of the USSR.
Great propaganda painting.
Sailors and soldiers wear a red band, red flag, or have a red star. At the front, the Aurora also has a red star with a red flag.
Unique painting, much was lost after the fall of the Soviet Union.
